Transfer Station
A facility where wastes and recovered materials are transferred from small collection vehicles to larger transport vehicles for movement to a disposal site or other location for additional processing.  Transfer Stations are generally established for situations where direct hand will be more expensive than the transfer and transport operations.
A facility where collection vehicles bring waste where it is unloaded in order to permit its preparation for further transport for recovery, treatment or disposal elsewhere.
